For many people, managing pain involves using prescription medicine in combination with complementary techniques like physical therapy, acupuncture, yoga and massage. I appreciate this because I truly believe medical care should address the person as a whole - their mind, body, and spirit. Naomi Judd

Chinese Fire Cupping and Moxa Massage:
Cupping is a treatment which is part of oriental medicine. Small glass or bamboo cups are used as suction devices and placed on the skin. A flame will be used by the practitioner to heat the inside of the cup which creates a vacuum. The flames are merely used for heating the cups to achieve the desired effect of suction once the cup is placed on the skin. The cups cause the skin and superficial muscle layer to be slightly drawn in. Cupping works a bit opposite to massage as no pressure is applied but the muscle is lifted instead. The practitioner can then perform a form of massage by using the cups as a gliding tool however at some point the cups would be left in place for a while. Most of the time sensations experienced are of a warm, relaxing and soothing nature. The negative pressure produced by cupping can loosen muscles, increases blood flow and sedated the nervous system. This treatment is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite. It can work wonders for weight loss and cellulite treatments. Cupping works like acupuncture with meridians to balance qi and therefore refreshes the life force. One of the most popular uses for cupping is to treat colds and respiratory conditions. Cupping can be used in conjunction with ear acupuncture and moxibustion. Price: £15.00 for 15 minutes
